FEEDBACK

Phil Maggi is an electroacoustic musician, a vocalist and an independent film maker from Belgium.

Known as the lead singer of heavy-rock combo Ultraphallus, Phil Maggi develops an extensive body of work as a solo musician for several years. Creating haunted soundscapes influenced by traditional eastern-european folklore and modern avant-garde music, Maggi's mesmerizing sonic journeys (that he likes to refer to as Hypnoise music) are based on sources such as field recordings, voices, tapes manipulation, analog synthesizers and radio waves.

Maggi has shared the bill with many artists including musicians like Keith Rowe, Philippe Petit, Eugene Robinson, KK Null or Tuxedomoon. He has collaborated on audiovisual performances with video artists Tom Van Lippevelde and Delphine Fedoroff on several occasions.

He has working on a soundtrack for Belgian based Serbian sculptor Kresh, for the exhibition (im)possibilities at K-Haus art gallery, Vienna, and also as a performer for Jonathan De Winter’s installations and collaborated with Swiss artist Paulo Dos Santos for Transcultures, based in Mons, Belgium.

In addition Maggi is currently working on a new film project.

Phil Maggi has released albums in solo or with his band on Idiosyncratics, Hyperblasting recordings, Conspiracy Records and Riot Season.
